Shocking Bollywood Movie Role Replacements you probably didn't know

 

There are a lot of instances where a specific role which was assigned to a particular actor, got replaced by another actor for various reasons. Today I will discuss about those roles which were portrayed on screen by an actor who was not the first choice in the film. Sometimes actors already are preparing for other movies and hence became unavailable for the movies, like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. You might or might not have heard that Rajkumar Hirani wanted to make a movie with Shahrukh Khan. He wanted the character of Munna to be played by Shahrukh, however as Shahrukh was busy in some other project, he politely refused and in fact he was the one who suggested the name of Sanjay Dutt. And the rest is history. 

1) Randeep Hooda for Kesari  -  A movie which inspired us all, its songs that touched our hearts. The movie is based on  the Battle of Saragarhi and was initially named the same, however later was changed to Kesari. The movie showcases the  heroics of 21 Sikh Regiment Soldiers who fought bravely in the battle of Saragarhi, against 10,000 Afghans. Now coming to the movie where we saw the character of Ishar Singh  being played by Akshay Kumar. Personally I liked the movie but not his acting, and you would be shocked to know that it was Randeep Hooda who was the first choice for the movie. As we all know that he literally goes into the depth of the characters like Sarabjeet Singh. He was preparing for the role for 2 years, he grew a beard unlike Akshar'y fake beard. He even learned martial arts. He basically transformed himself into a Sikh. However, the role was given to Akshay Kumar while, Randeep Hooda waited and waited for a long time.......

2) Arjun Kapoor for Kabir Singh - Official remake of Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh became a huge hit in Bollywood too just like the original one. The role played by Shahid was truly masterpiece, however the producers of the movies had different opinion. They wanted to cast Arjun Kapoor as Kabir Singh. Now that the movie has  already released we cannot even think that other any Bollywood actor could have done the same justice to that role. It was the director Sandeep Vanga who had already had Shahid in his mind for the role. And had discussed the role with Shahid. Shahid deserved a hit and he absolutely nailed that role. Fortunately for us as well as we didn't had to see an "expressionless Kabir Singh".

3) Sushant Singh Rajput for Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) - John Abhraham has done a lot of movies based on spy, or where he is in armed forces. RAW movie was a hit and John portrayal the emotions of a RAW agent very positively to a great extent. However if we talk about the role, according to some reports it was Sushant Singh Rajput who was chosen for the role, even the posters were made, however as Sushant was into some other projects like Raabta, Dil Bechara and Drive and thus was unavailable for the role, John played the character.

4) Abhishek Bachchan for Paltan - A war based movie made by J.P Dutta who in the past, directed a blockbuster war based movie "Border". Earlier for the role of Maj. Harbhajan Singh, Abishek Bachchan was all set to act. However before the start of the shoot, Harshwardhan Rane replaced him. He made a debut with the movie Sanam Teri Kasam. It was one of the most beautiful love story Bollywood as ever produced.For the role of Harbhajan Singh he stayed within the army camps even before the shooting started. However the movie couldn't gather a lot of audience, still, he did full justice the role.

5) Siddharth Malhotra for Bhavesh Joshi Superhero - Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane Bhavesh Joshi couldn't earn well at the Box office, however the role played by Harshwardhan Kapoor got a lot of positive reviews. Earlier Sidharth Malhotra was chosen to play the character of Sikkandar Khanna, but due to some circumstances the character was  eventually played by Harshvardhan Kapoor.

So, role replacements aren't something new to Bollywood and it's not that only male actors are replaced, there are many female actress  also who were replaced by other actress. But I will shed light on that topic in some other blog.
